and it happens again..

March 27, 2007

Today i met a potential _______ who happens to stay near me. And happens to be the Amanda’s friend. Thoughts are straying.

hi, i’m not dead

March 25, 2007

I realise i like to do things that most people (that i know of) dislike doing. Things like writing summary/composition, mopping the floor, cleaning the glass windows/tanks, being a cashier, stick price tags, shelving, cleaning dog poo etc..

Weird. But it’s okay.

Briefly about my current work situation:

1. Today marks the best working day of my life. Sold 2 puppies in a day. My total sales for today ($3xxx.xx) is currently the peak of the curve. And the trough is an embarrassing $8x.xx (Day 1 sales). Total noob

2. What i like is that customers praise me and tell me that i’d go far in this line. Kinda motivation and satisfaction.

3. My manager praises me, wants to groom me, makes me think like a retail manager, and starts giving me opportunities to carry out some simple managerial role.

4. My ‘lao ban niang’ (lady boss) smile to me now.. maybe because she knows i can sell. ha!

But anyway, life is just hectic for me. Can’t even have time for a proper meal. When i just start to eat, customers come looking for me. It’s super sian cause usually it takes about 10-15mins to serve 1 customer. And if they are gonna buy a pup, it’s gonna take about 30mins to 1 hour.

Other than working, there’s nothing i can do now.
By the time i reach home it’s 11pm ++
By the time i bathe it’s 12am ++
Then it’s time to head to bed. The the cycle continues.

Can’t wait for Wednesday.

baking

March 15, 2007

1 of the things that are keeping me busy since school ended – shopping together with a recipe book for baking stuff, baking, and more baking.

over the last 2 days..

Left to right: chocolate chips cookies, chocolate cookies (that are not decorated yet)

the round choc cookies coated with icing sugar

the heart shaped choc cookies with melted white choc

the vanessa-recipe cookies i don’t know what. Anyway it’s almond chocolate. i made some with corn flakes too.

And today… finally, my herbed pretzels.

Think the toughest thing was to deco the heart cookies with melted choc, so damn hard to control and you have to squeeze till your hands tremble. And the pretzels dough is so hard to handle(for me). Sticky, and it keeps lengthening itself.

Anyway i think puff pastry is really challenging. I’m gonna learn to make more of them.

anteaters as pets

March 11, 2007

i NEVER knew u can keep an anteater as pet. I always don’t like anteater cos i got scared by 1 during Night Safari. But anyway, i didn’t know they are so gentle and cute. Oh considering they can never bite you cos they only have tongue. hahaha..

look at this, some american with a pet anteater:

A promise too hard to keep

March 9, 2007

Author’s note: There is no promise too hard to keep expect the ones that are changed by a sequence of events.

Often, things that you least expect to happen are those that hits you hard. What happened back then was beyond everyone’s expectations. Both of us thought things would turn out exactly the way we painted it in our minds. Have we forgotten that life isn’t as beautiful as it seem? Look around, and you’ll find ugly sights you wished you didn’t knew.

This story is about us, our promise, and how it changed.

Chapter 1 – Back to school

It was the second term of high school. The entire atrium was bustling with students yelling in joy and hugging each other as if they’ve been apart for more than a mere summer break. Late for the morning lecture, I squeezed my way through the crowd.

“Such inconsiderate kids!” I mumbled to myself. Right before I could finish my sentence I found myself losing balance. I tripped and fell. The lecture notes in my arms fluttered in the air, gliding down slowly and gracefully. The entire campus fell silent as I tumbled on the atrium floor; it felt as though all eyes were on me. Right there I felt like I could find a hole to hide myself, I knew I was going to be the joke for the entire school term. The chatters returned, this time together with a huge burst of laughter. Angry and embarrassed I swallowed my words, “I’m going to kill you, whoever that tripped me.” Turning around to pick the lecture notes I saw Sarah Parker squatting right beside me, picking up pieces of my lecture notes.

“There you go”, she said as she passed me the stack of papers she managed to retrieve.

“Thanks”, I replied quickly without looking at her.

With concerning eyes she asked, “Are you alright?”

I stood up, arranged the notes in my hands, dusted my jeans and told her, “Yea, yea I am. Let’s hurry. Mr Simmons wouldn’t be too happy.” In fact what I least wanted was any sympathy that would only make me feel worst.

Sarah Parker has been my classmate since last school term. In my impression, she belongs to the nerdy, hardworking and gentle type. The teacher’s pet kind of girl. Not really the kind of girl I would mix with.

Whatever it was, I am to some extend glad that Sarah Parker was with me this morning. Her presence saved my some embarrassment as well as hurtful critics from the other students. So that was how my first day of the second school term started. I went to class with Sarah Parker.

to be continued…

horror movies

March 7, 2007

That stupid wendy had to give me a link to a picture of Ju-on. I clicked it without thinking and i got a shock. Look at the eyes… (suddenly i want to sing: looking in your eyes, i see a memory, i never realised how happy you made me oh mandy…)So, i decided to pass on the link to vanvan. Heh! So we talked about horror movies. A topic to blog about! (:

I remember how i always like to watch horror movies to freak myself out. I watched my first horror (or should i say thriller) movie was when i was 12? Watched Six Sense with my mom and siblings in the cinema. Till now i can still remember every single detail of the movie. And the boy saying: “I can see dead people”. Wa lao. But the little boy is cute and charming. He attracted me. Maybe because he can see dead people.

The as i grew older, i guess Scream was one of the best out of all the horror movies i watched. Everytime the music gets eerie or loud, it’s about time when you can start to anticipate the ‘whatever thing’ to appear. Sometimes i would go: “wa lao is it coming out already?? when is it coming out? wth!” Then sometimes it take a long long time before it appears and it makes you so fed up you scream: “ALRIGHT! COME ON OUT NOW YOUR BASTA*D!”

Boy..i can remember how my literature teacher always tell us how scriptwriters or book authors use words to build up the atmosphere to make you wanna read/watch on. Horror movies really achieved that.
